So, after pouring over all my class options, i am torn between a vanilla alchemist and a vivisectionist, either of which has to be a Gnome, for roleplaying reasons. He's basically a mad scientist, but i don't know if i want to go the bomb making route or the experimenting on everything route. This is for Kingmaker btw.
The character is going to most likely be sub-optimal build wise, I already know that, but I feel character is more important (plus with mutagens i can make myself stronger, hardier, more dexterous, what have you)
My stat block is as follows:
Str 10 (12)
Dex 14
Con 15 (13)
Int 18
Wis 12
Cha 9 (7)
I know having such a high intelligence isn't really needed if I go the vivisectionist route, and if I do, i'll drop the int down to 16, and put the points elsewhere, but with the vanilla alchemist, it can work wonders :). I'm also taking the Collector trait with focus in craft alchemy, along with brigand as my campaign trait, although if i go vivisectionist, i'll be taking pioneer for the free horse to experiment on at later levels.
What would be a good first feat to take? also, what weapon would you suggest I take? I know that a ranged weapon would be best, most likely a crossbow. I'm also going to be taking the +1/2 bombs per level favored class boon rather than skill points or hit points.

Splash Weapon Mastery is a really good feat. With a 20 ft. range increment, you're often going to be dealing with range penalties.

I really love the Mad Bomber, myself.
Here's a tip about Kingmaker: it has a lot of 15-minute adventuring days, especially at low levels. So characters with limited daily resources (like bombs and extracts) are at a relative advantage. Not a big deal one way or the other, but just so you know -- the bomber will not only be playable, but can really shine.
Point-Blank Shot is very helpful at low levels, BTW, and still decent at higher ones. That +1 to hit and damage really adds up over time.
