Advice on a backstory

Advice

New game, GM is allowing any race. So naturally we are mostly playing monsters, tieflings, goblins, ...ect. Also he wants us to either play non-core class or pick an arch-type we havent had at out table before. So I made a Tiefling blackblade Magus. I'm having a hard time coming up with a back story. Being Blackblade doesn't even come into effect till level 3 so not sure how to tie that in. Guess the biggest hold up is I really dot have any knowledge of Tiefling society (lack of use in novels). Any suggestions?

Party has:
Tiefling Zen Archer
Goblin ninja
Human gunslinger

Well, being a Tiefling you have some kind of outsider blood in you. Perhaps they've taken an interest in you and the Blackblade is actually infused with their agent assisting you.

Being a Tiefling means you simply have some devils blood (or other types with the various other builds) running in your family and it was paritcularly strong in you. I'd recommend focusing on that.

There is generally no separate tiefling society. As in, there's no tiefling country, or anything like that. They live in human society, and their status varies a lot depending on which country they live in.

So here's a backstory idea:

You were the beloved son of a tiefling blacksmith in Taldor. Your father's natural fire resistance allowed him to hone his skills at the forge to amazing levels, and he began to become famous.

One day, a mysterious wizard came to your father in disguise, and commissioned him to make a special sword. The wizard gave your father plans and materials to imbue the weapon with powers beyond the blacksmith's comprehension. He payed a princely commission, and promised to return when the weapon was completed.

Your father poured all of his talent into this sword. It was his masterpiece. But the wizard never returned to claim his property. For years, it hung on the wall of the workshop. Many adventurers tried to buy it, but your father was an honorable man and would not sell it to anyone except the man who had already paid for it.

As for you, you were fascinated by the mysterious powers the wizard had demonstrated, and secretly taught yourself everything you could about magic. But you also loved the swords that your father made, so you divided you time between sword practice and arcane study, eventually learning how to combine them into a formidable fighting style.

Then one night you awoke to a scream. You ran to the workshop, only to see your father lying dead with the sword in his hand. His killer was nowhere to be found.

But why was he holding the sword? Why had he been murdered? If it was a thief, why had the sworn not been taken?

You have decided to leave the workshop and seek answers to these questions in the wader. You will carry the sword with you, and perhaps one day you will discover its intended purpose.

A few things to remember about tieflings. 1)Not all tieflings are humans descendants. 2) A tieflings fiendish attributes usually don't come to light until about puberty. 3) Due to the extremely varied heritage of tieflings, your character can look like anything you want, with very little constraints on what.

Silver Crusade

And Tieflings of different ansestory have different stats.

I would suggest Kensi Blackblade Magus that way the sword is already there and at 3rd level can have abilities awaken.

But you have a great blankslate for backgrounds, street urchin, former chelish slave, really devious evil jerk, super noble good guy fighting demonic taint, and it could come in any where aristocrat, commoner, so have at it as for backgrounds. Currently I am playing a half (drow)elf who was raised by gnomes.
