Crafting

Advice

Just wanted to see what everyone thought the best route to take for making a character that:

1- is still gonna be useful in other circumstances
2- is going to be excellent for crafting magical items
3- uses only base classes from pathfinder core and advances players books only

Alchemist.

Even just a Wizard with every Item Creation feat taken as soon as you can get them.

Wizard or alchemist for a free crafting feat.
If only the classes have to be from core or apg look at the toilcrafter dwarf religion trait to be able to craft +1 arms & armor in addition to the crafting feats you take (most likely wondrous item).

It's an interesting question! What does it take to be excellent at crafting magic items? You need a high Spellcraft. And you also need to meet the prerequisites, many of which are spells -- casting them, reading a scroll, using a wand, activating a racial ability, whatev.

So, the best would be an Int caster with lots of spells on their list. That would be a wizard, and they even get bonus feats to help with it.

However, not all spells are wizard spells. For the other magic items, I would guess cleric or druid. They might not have as high of an Int, or the benefit of bonus feats, but they also aren't limited by a spellbook.

So, my best guess is a wizard with cleric and druid friends. (You don't need to provide all the prerequisites yourself.)

cheers guys
