What makes a War Razor better than a dagger, justifying Martial Proficiency?

I've searched other threads for an answer, and the consensus seems to be the +2 to Sleight of Hand checks to conceal it.

War Razor

To all appearances, a war razor is an oversized razor or flip knife. As the razor folds into the handle, no sheath is required, making the weapon easy to hide.

Description: You gain a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand checks made to conceal the weapon on your body.

Weapon Feature(s): easily concealed

But so does a dagger:

Dagger

A dagger has a blade that is about 1 foot in length.

Benefit: You get a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand skill checks made to conceal a dagger on your body (see Using Skills).

The dagger bonus is also mentioned in the description for Sleight of Hand skill.

So, the only differences as far as I can tell are that the War Razor can't do piercing damage, is 4x the price of a dagger, needs martial proficiency, and lacks the dagger's 10' range increment.

Am I missing something?

In the RotRL player's guide, IIRC, that the war razor origionally had a threat range like that of a kukri; upon being updated to the PF rules, it was reduced to that of a dagger. The war razor was likely retained as a martial weapon to keep somewhat in line with its origional design and to show that it is a bit different than the dagger. In PF, higher grades of weapons (simple, martial, & exotic) are unfortunately not always superior numerically to lower grades of weapons, some are merely more "complicated" in appearance or use, for lack of a better word.

In other words, I guess it just sucks on accident.

Doesn't really matter why it sucks; just that it does.

Still looks damn cool, but next to useless compared with other options, it is.

Thanks for the answer.

I was looking for a weapon for my Vivisectionist/Chirurgeon, something that said "weaponized scalpel". I was a little mystified when I read the stats however. I guess I could go for a kukri, or just the dagger.

Honestly, in most cases the difference is too little to really matter. You could probably use it over a dagger, or kukri, without much of a problem. You'd likely be best served, though, reflavoring a dagger and calling it a day.

Dang, that's what I was going to say. Just ask your DM if you can use dagger stats with whatever flavor or appearance you want. :)
