Rogue Archetypes - Scout & Swashbuckler

Advice

Starting PFS games soon, and both of these archetypes seem as though they would be fun to play. For a new player, any downside or reason not to use either of these archetypes? Would it be better or easier to stick with a base rogue?

Thanks, Ope

I like scout myself. I've seen swashbuckler done well also.

How big of a loss is the Trap Finding for the Swashbuckler? I suppose that depends on the rest of the group make up doesn't it?

You'd sort of sink-hole yourself into being a combat specialist, at the expense of losing trapsense, trap-finding, and uncanny dodge/improved uncanny dodge. This definitely hampers your ability to find traps and any ability to deal with magic traps.

If you can get a party that knows before-hand that this is the case, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, if folks are hoping you'll be taking care of the traps and such, they may be disappointed.

It doesn't hamper your ability to find traps very much. Any trap can be found via the Perception skill. The biggest loss is the ability to disarm magical traps.

But if your concept doesn't involve traps at all, then it's not much of a loss, is it? :)

i have one for pas that is a scout and swashbuckler. he is fun
