Worth it to go Wizard 1 (admixture) when playing a Magus?

Advice

The title says it all: is a one-level dip in wizard worth it in order to get the all-powerful admixture ability ?

Since I rely a lot on shocking grasp (empowered ones, maximized ones, intensified ones...) to deal damage, any opponent with electricity resistance or, god forbid, immune to electricity, would be annoying for me to deal with. It seems most demons and devils, for instance, have some kind of energy resistance.

I realize that I have a lot of other spells to toy with, though.

A one-level dip would cost me 1 BAB and delay my spell progression.
It would give me a familiar, scribe scrolls, some level 1 spells (with spell failure, though) and admixture.

So, worth it ?

If dipping Wizard I'd rather do it as a teleporter.
If you need admixture I'd rather, at some time, invest in a metamagic rod elemental, lesser.

Id say no, stick with your tried and true shocking grasp until the situation presents itself then throw out a corrosive touch for simply one smaller damage die or you could just keep a chill touch on hand depending on how your dm plays it and each hit deals an extra d6 +1 str.

In short, stick with magus and shocking grasp keep a fall back spell in waiting incase you need it

No... it's better to learn that you've got more spells available than just shocking grasp. Much of what the wizard offers does little or no good to a magus. You want a familiar that badly? take the Arcana. Most of the wizard spells that serve you as a magus, you have on your class list already.

I considered this with my Magus. I admit it is a really cool concept and would make a versatile caster. The extra spell list adds for a lot of utility and the ability to change damage type is rather awesome. So following the Rule of Cool, then yes this is totally worth it. Probably not optimal though. Delaying a Magus' spell progression is a major downer.

Ultimately I decided against this route. Mostly because it is not that big of an issue. There are not that many creatures with resistance to electricity, especially at lower levels. Once you can cast third level spell then Vampire Touch becomes your friend and problem solved.

The best trick I have found at lower levels (and still handy at higher levels) Is to buy several Pearls of Power and then keep at least one spell other that Shocking Grasp ready to go. As suggested, Corrosive Touch is alternate. For example if you have 4 1st level spots I might load out like this (1 Shield, 1 Corrosive Touch, 2 Shocking Grasp.) With the Pearls you can be less afraid to "Burn a spell". I think my Magus has 3 1st level Pearls.
