So someone will start the thread?

The OP was worried about playing clerics wrong . . . he's not. That is my whole point. My prefrence in how the world is run is simply reiterating that clerics can function without ever using a wand period. Thus cannot be wrong to neglect them.

This is just another "truth" thrown around on these boards that is really game dependent and in many cases juts not accurate.

Healing in combat is still very important and wands of CLW have their purpose, but healing cannot be replaced by a wand of CLW. I guess most people play in campaigns where the DM just serves them monsters on a plate, because I don't see how a bunch of CLW can keep the fighter up after taking 100+ hp damage, nor can it remove blindness or any of the other effects a character may face.

If you are playing a game where a wand of CLW can easily replace your cleric/druid/healer etc. then that's really on your GM.

If you're playing in a game where you can't survive without a healer, that's really on your DM.

...Or the rest of the players.

If they dump defense to focus on offense and/or put themselves in situations that let the bad guys gang up on them individually, then expect a dedicated healer to keep them alive, should the GM coddle them if they don't have a PC "heal-bot?"

I get the clw is what you use out of combat, but in every game I've ever played you do need that extra potion of cure mod or serious just to keep you up for one more round while someone else gets the BBG's attention. No you don't need a dedicated healer, but I've been in a situation where it sure was nice that had had someone who could heal well.
