Arcane Strike and using a spell-like ability as a prereq

Rules Questions

I don't know if someone asked this before. I just wanted to know if i was to play a tiefling fighter, would the spell-like ability they get qualify for arcane strike since it is a arcane spell. The only prereq is the ability to cast arcane spells. Unless this is only meant for wizards and such. I think it works since their character level is their caster level, so arcane strike would increase as they level as a fighter.

No, this would not work. The ability to cast a spell like ability is not the same as the ability to cast arcane spells. The spell like ability does not have a type, it is not arcane or divine.

Arcane Strike is meant to boost spell casting characters.

i understand that it is not meant for non-spell casters, but in the spell-like abilities section of the bestiary it reads..

Spell-like abilities wrote:
Some spell-like abilities duplicate spells that work differently when cast by characters of different classes. A monster’s spell-like abilities are presumed to be the sorcerer/wizard versions. If the spell in question is not a sorcerer/wizard spell, then default to cleric, druid, bard, paladin, and ranger, in that order.

so if it is presumed to be a sorcerer/wizard version does that not make it arcane.

Using a spell-like ability is not casting an arcane spell, ever. You merely use an ability to duplicate the effect of one.

never mind i over looked the part where it says that spell-like abilities are not spells

Cool, glad you found the text. Thanks for letting me know about spell like abilities resembling their class equivalents!
