Versatile Channeler Feat at 1st level

I just want to know what happens at first level with this feat (Versatile Channeler) i selected it at 1st level thinking it would continue to do minimum of 1d6 for my secondary energy type until i was high enough level to have my prime energy raise well above it. I just read it and haven't been playing this edition for very long and want to be sure. I was just told that it does nothing and i cant channel my secondary energy at all, being 1st level an taking the -2 to my level. it just seems odd that is doesn't have a minimum of 1d6.

A cleric two levels lower than 1st isn't a cleric, so it doesn't do anything for you, at least as far as I know. I'd ask to change my feat due to not understanding.

You're right with how it works. To be honest, having a requirement of "channel energy 2d6" would keep that from even being an issue.

Follow Rocky's advice and ask to take another feat. Yours, essentially, won't do anything at all until you're at least 3rd level.

How did you get 2d6 channel at first level?

At the moment it isn't a requirement. But the suggestion from ThatEvilGuy would solve the matter.

Being able to choose it at lvl 1 can be interesting for some, who want to expend their later feats on something else (that they are unable to choose at lvl 1).

As a GM, if I would let you take it at 1st level, it would do exactly 1 damage/heal of the opposing force, till you're high enough.
But most likely i'd say you need 2d6 channel first. Or effective cleric level 3, or however you want to formulate it.
