a lot of people roll percentiles. Being the lazy person that I am I just break it down to a d20 roll. Each 5% is another step up the "number I don't want to roll" chart. So if I have an arcane spell failure of 10%, every time (EVERY TIME) I cast a spell I roll 1d20. If its a 1 or a 2 I waste my action and my spell and nothing happens. If it's 15% it's 1, 2, or 3 and so on.
As an aside, don't do arcane spell failure. Take arcane armor training if you really want to wear armor or don't wear armor at all (a personal favorite) and stay out of combat. Let the others get hit. You're a wizard and are too busy being too smart to be hit.

Don't forget that Arcane Spell Failure only applies to spells with somatic components: Flare, feather fall, and true strike, as well as any spell modified by Still Spell metamagic, do not have somatic components and can be cast in armor without a chance of failure. There are a handful of other spells, including mage's disjunction, that lack somatic components.
