...so perhaps it deserves to not get mangled by the profanity filter?
Which is why I brought it to the code-monkeys' attention. :D
Unless you actually want to have a real discussion about the place or its festivals, this is unnecessary and could be better handled via email or private messaging.
Edit: To be clear, by unnecessary, I mean, simply stirring up trouble to be stirring it up.
Isn't that the place that got wiped out by a tsunami in Thailand?
I dunno if it's still there...

Sorry - this was absolutely not meant to stir things up - I detest that kind of behaviour. I'll use e-mail in the future (funnily enough, I didn't e-mail or PMs this time because I felt this was rather trivial, and using an e-mail/PM would somehow make more of it than a forum post.
But, in short, my bad. (And I discovered it when I tried using the place's name to describe a location, so yeah.)
now I am intrigued...and not very good at puzzles so I must know
Fair enough. If at some point we rewrite the swear filter so we can whitelist words this would be one that we'd go ahead and add, but for now it's going to continue to be obscured.

I'm guessing its a reference to this place.
Edit: I removed the link since the filter broke it anyway. See Gary's post below.

Rhymes with bucket.
Lol! Best name for a place ever! It's up there with the restaurant "Pho King."
I hope I don't get in trouble for that... <.< >.>
I've tried that beer, wish I'd kept an unopened bottle.
My favorite place in thailand.
It was like Orion.
Drinkable but not something I'd hunt down ( and I am in the bar Buisness). The name and label were totally worth it though. We had alot of fun with that case of beer.
Why would profanity filter block it anyway?!
The mekong whisky is what I remember most vividly from that nice seaside town in thailand.
Yeah, and there is a town in Germany named the f-word, present tense (with an -ing). But as much as I love joking about the place, and the crazy stories they have about their tourists, I still except the filter here to do its job.

Could you also make it so we could mention Oliver Twist's boss, Fagin, when discussing child thieves? It's come up more than once on the boards.
(Edit: Never mind. Looks like it's now allowed.)
Yeah, the profanity filter is prudish but not immutable. We make adjustments from time to time.
Until this thread I didn't know there was a filter. I thought all I'd the #%?!£*%|{<>€£¥ was people self editing. 8 )
Well... so is the piece of land that Rick Perry owns (n-word head) but, ya know.

This whole thread is Sofa-King Cool.
Phu ket is fun, but I far prefer Kho Samui, Kho Tao and Kho Pha Ngnan
Kho Tao rocked, but I think things have changed in the almost 10 years since I was last there. I know Simple Life beach huts have gone from the beach, the bar has been rebuilt and most if not all of the brilliant staff have moved on.
What's real fun is that every time you refresh this thread, it gets a new subject line.
interesting so I cant type the word shit?
Lobolusk wrote: interesting so I cant type the word s*&~? cool sorry it wont happen again I just had to try please don't ban me

Guess not.

I always ask myself where is the difference between a 4-letter word and !"§$%? I am just as upset (or not) when being attacked regardless if I can actually read the word plain or just in my mind.

Interestingly, the original spelling is there in the URL listing if you let the mouse hover over the hyperlink for this thread.
What amazes me is that someone bothered to add that alternate spelling to the profanity filter. Bit agressive, no?

Ah. Yes, I can see that. Certainly makes more sense than starting from scratch.
Still amusing, though :)

I rather enjoy inserting my own words into the symbol script. I live with a world class vulgarian with a knack for innovation. She has created words that Might get past the filters.
I spend almost all of my time guarding the exit from the Grand Palace in Bangkok, but whenever I can get away, I make straight for Phuket. Fantastic beaches, plenty of girls, great seafood...

Rhymes with bucket. But pronounce the U as OO and move the emphasis to the end. Poo-ket'.
Also, I don't think there are any consonants in Thai that do what English speakers are used to them doing when put with H.
