Alrighty, our DM for the pathfinder wants to know how the rage works. He's read the book and still doesn't seem to be certain on how many rounds a barbarian.
To the best of my current understanding, say a Barbarian has 16 con which equates to a +3 bonus. Rage lasts for 4 rounds + constitution modififier.
so we have a base rage of 7 rounds, correct?
Now then, the book further states that every level after first, the barbarian gains 2 additional rounds of rage.
Therefore a level 2 barbarian has 9 rounds of rage, a level 3 barbarian has 11 rounds of rage, so forth and so on.. correct?

Yes, sortof. It's not that rage lasts for that many rounds, it's that the barbarian can be raging for that many rounds per day.
It's not "toggle rage on and you're in a rage for 7/9/11 rounds", which is how it worked in 3.5. In Pathfinder, it's "toggle rage on and spend a round. Each round, spend another round's worth of rage to keep raging."

Indeed, 7 rounds a day at level 1, 9 at level 2, etc, barring increases to constitution (or the Extra Rage Feat, or favored class bonuses for the races that allow it).
And, of course, they can be split up however the barbarian would like, since entering and exiting rage is a free action, subject to the restriction of not being able to enter rage while fatigued.
So, in the first encounter of the day, the Barbarian could rage just when he gets to the leader of the brigands, using 2 rounds there, 1 round in the next fight, and have 4 (or 6, or 8, or...) remaining for the other challenges.
