Best place to live in the US

Off-Topic Discussions

Where there's a lot of other gamers, singles and nice areas. Just wanted to get user opinions about it all, since I'm planning to move.

Scarab Sages

I've heard that the weather in San Diego is nice pretty much all year round, if you can stand the fact that (a) you're in California, and (b) somewhere, nearby, an evil, soul-consuming pony lawyer is very likely stalking you in hopes of driving you to despair so tht he can claim your tears for his morning drink.

Australia... Hmm. I feel ill equipped to add to this thread :P

I was in the US about 30 years ago so my opinions are way out of date.... I liked San Diego (it reminded me of Coolangatta/Surfers Paradise), but I thought San Francisco was a far more beautiful and interesting city.
LA did not do much for me and Vegas while fun and exciting was a fairly shallow place.

Belize.....tropical, jungly, ancient ruins, waterfalls, caves, clear blue ocean, amazing blue holes in the ocean....what's not to love?

The US conquered Belize? I didn't know that...

;-)

Silver Crusade

Where are you from, DarkFoxAnnihilator? Do you like that place, or dislike that place? What do you like or dislike about it?

The best place to live is different for everyone, and those questions can help figure out what is right for you.

I love the Boston area for a great deal of reasons but it is not a place for everyone.

Shadow Lodge

Unquestionably, Texas. Texas has everything, beaches, tourist attractions, tropical to arctic, all kinds of peole and all kinds of things to do. And it's Texas.

Sczarni

I live in central Missouri, and I love it. I don't see it making anyone's list of Top Places to Game in the U.S., though.

Atlanta, GA. I've been here for 8 years and would never want to move. Their is a good gaming population, lots of cons are held here, plenty of employment opportunities, beautiful weather and people.

Just north of the city there is even a nerd bar. As in a bar for gamers and other nerds. Beer + Star wars online = good times.

I lived there a few years ago, just south of KC.

I live in phoenix, arizona I hate that it's a retirement state, i like that it's a city, that's pretty much it. I hate living far away from everything. I've been to a handful of other states, utah, wyoming, nevada, kansas, colorado and oklahoma. I liked only california, I was going to see the entire west coast, but I changed my mind on that. Texas I'd visit, I always wanted to go to rhode island, But like I said, I'm just trying to get everyone elses ideas, I'll probably have to plan some trips :P

Rhode Island is a great little state I lived there for four years. Providence is a great little town/city and it has a pretty decent gaming community active.

Sorry, I am on a bit of an anti-US tear lately....I am trying to figure out where I would go if I could and why....

within the US? I really like mid-east coast of Florida....near Sebastian/Vero beach area....love the ocean, there is a waterway that is salt, protected from the ocean by a long barrier island of sorts that makes the water there calm. I love that area.

Yeah the biggest points for me are, housing costs, job market, the amount of single women (I'm young I can't help it), friendly people because everyone needs friends, and if they play pathfinder that's a plus :) and obviously not a small town. I was considering seattle or portland but I get the feeling the locals aren't easy to make friends with.

Liberty's Edge

Fairbanks, Alaska, of course.

In my pants.

Canada.

The northeast

The weather doesn't get boring.

No real natural disasters. California's four seasons are earthquake fire mudslide and riot.

Drive one direction you get cities, drive the other direction you get forests. Take your pick.

This. I moved *back* to Atlanta from Phoenix (mostly because I have family here). We're having summer right now -- temps in the 80s. The pollen is really bad, though.

When we do have winter, it's usually very mild -- but when it's bad, the city shuts down. Good excuse to stay home and game! :)

Like the Ice storm last year. I loved those few days.
