Hello,
I know this is a strange request, but I will be DMing a game where my players wish to use iconic (for them) heroes as their characters.
One wants to be Dark Schneider (click here if you don't know him) from Bastard.
Another one would like to be Virgo Shaka from Saint Seiya (virgo gold saint, Click here if you don't know him)
The third one would also like to play a gold saint from Saint Seiya, Aries Mu (Click here if you don't know him)
Since they don't know the rules that well, it falls to me to give them an archetype that would meet their expectations. Also, this means I don't want to use cheesy or complicated combos, like dual-blooded orc sorcerer or whatever.
Here are my thoughts so far:
Dark Schneider: Elf Arcane Sorcerer or Evoker Wizard
Virgo Shaka: Oracle of Life, or Cleric with Love/Inevitable domain
Aries Mu: No idea, since Psions don't exist. Another oracle or cleric ?
Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated, I'm a bit at a loss here. Of course, if you don't know any of the anime, it might be hard to help :D

Cool idea :-)
Regarding Dark Schneider: You would definitely some martial prowess in there, but the evocation focus should fit the bill. More precisely:
- Elf is good, but half-elf would be better. Dark Schneider is too old for a human in any way.
- Sorcerer is better IMO. DS does not need too many spells IMO. Consider crossblooded with draconic in there to increase the damage die.
- Eldritch knight should be in there, DS can fight well :-)

Only one of those I know well is DS. I agree with Sangalor, though I think a "human that's discovered magic to tell aging and mortality to screw off" would work fine. I'd make him a Human.
Don't forget DS also had non-evocation stuff, particularly a few illusions. So, Human Sorcerer X / Figher 1? / Eldritch Knight 10 for him. Definitely should get the Osyluth Guile feat when he can to translate his sexiness into combat prowess better. And Improved Familiar for a Pseudo Dragon familiar, if he gets one.... Not sure if he should be Arcane bloodline.
STRONGLY consider allowing in the 3E Searing Spell feat, and possibly Energy Substitution as well. Elemental Spell costing +1 spell level is bogus.

Dark Schneider is a human-looking Tiefling, he's the son of Satan after all.
And Eldritch Knight sounds good, though it's hard to tell since he's already epic level when the series starts and only becomes more ridiculously overpowered as it progresses.

Hadn't known that feat before. Very cool :-)

I didn't read the last mangas, but I don't see Dark Schneider as an Eldritch Knight. He doesn't wear armor and cannot fight that well (losing against Archess or Ninja Master Gara), unless he's buffed up.
Osyluth Guile is a great feat ! I also found Noble Scion of Battle as a charisma-feat that I didn't know of.
Nobody here has any opinion about the Gold Saints and Saint Seiya ? ^^

If you're willing to go with a build that keeps the overwhelming arrogance of Dark Schneider while sacrificing some accuracy then Dragon Disciple might work out well.
And I never saw more than one episode of Saint Seiya, so I can't help you there I'm afraid.

Hmmm... Darschie was specialized in fire spells, so I'd give him the Efreeti bloodline. If he's human, he slowed VERY much his own aging with several wishes upon reaching 20th level.
The Gold Saints are clerics/paladins to me. I'd give Virgo the Repose and Loss domains, and Aries the Artifice and Magic (Arcane) domains.

Anyway, I read a lot of manga, but I wasn't familiar with this one. Looks like it's heavily RPG-themed, so it might be worth checking out.
It's definitely worth checking out! Though it owes as much, if not more, to 80's Heavy Metal bands than RPGs (the author is a huge metalhead). Unfortunately, there's a serious problem with the U.S. translations.
Wikipedia puts it pretty well....
The manga and anime both name places, spells (and some people) after various heavy metal bands, such as Metallica, Judas Priest (even in the name itself, in this case; sometimes in the manga, a blank page with "BASTARD!!" written after the style of the Judas Priest logo can be seen), Whitesnake, and Anthrax, and the spells Megadeth, Venom, Guns N' Roses, and Helloween. Fearing lawsuits, Pioneer took the Japanese forms of the band names and changed them somewhat when they were put back in English: Megadeth became Megadeath, Helloween became Haro-Wing, Whitesnake became Whiteos-Neiki, Guns N' Roses was shortened to Guns-N-Ro, and Anthrax became Anslasax. The main city in which the adventure takes place, Meta-Ricana, is actually Metallicana.
This idiocy extends to both the manga and anime, and as such a lot of the humor is drained out of the official English versions.
