Sohei are profecient with all simple and martial weapons.
Heavy blades typically used by guardians of religious sites, temple swords have distinctive crescent-shaped blades, appearing as an amalgam of a sickle and sword. Many have holes drilled into the blade or places on the pommel where charms, bells, or other holy trinkets might be attached.
Monks are proficient with the temple sword.
So would a Sohei still be proficient with a temple sword?

Yes. Sohei weapon proficiencies don't replace Monk weapon proficiencies, they just modify them to include all simple and martial. If Sohei were not proficient with exotic monk weapons that regular monks automatically get proficiency in, the Sohei weapon proficiencies would include the line "This replaces normal Monk weapon proficiency."

Monks arent proficent with monks weapons they can simply flurry with them. That being said this weapon calls out that monks are profiecent and was wondering.
Every weapon that I have seen with the special of "monk" is a weapon every monk is proficient with , including the temple sword, it says so in the end of the weapons description.

you are right, i dont see any in UC that say that monks are proficient, but I imagine this is either an oversight, or the writers figured people would know that under special, monk means extra proficiencies for the monk. Either way, I will continue playing where monks get to use anything with the monk specialty

As said above, weapons with "monk" in the entry only means it can be used with flurry, nothing about proficient. It is a core weapon property that has been out for a long time. I would highly doubt that would be an oversight.
Monk: A monk weapon can be used by a monk to perform a flurry of blows (see Classes).

Nope it has be FAQ'd that monks do not simply gain those profiencies. Though you and I seem to share a house rule that says they do.

yeah, I figure that people have enough trouble playing ,monks, why not let monks have some fun weapons. I dont see most weapons as being able to make them a broken class
