Where are the class archetypes in the core books

I keep reading online about archetypes but nowhere have I read anything about it unless I overlooked it somehow.

Archetypes were added with the Advanced Players Guide. Each class posted at d20pfsrd.com (base classes) has the published Archetypes listed in a table at the bottom of the page.

Archetypes are in the Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Combat, and Ultimate Magic. There are no archetypes in the Core Rulebook. You can find all of the material from these books online at paizo's PRD (pathfinderRPG Reference Document).

The archetypes were introduced with the Advanced Player Guide, so you don't find them in the Core Rulebook.
You can find most of them in the PRD.

The Advanced Player Guide is well worth buying - many people consider it almost like part 2 of the Core Rules

I do own the Advanced players guide, I just haven't read through it all yet. I don't yet own the ultimate magic or ultimate combat. Lately I've been reading the gamemastery guide, the advanced players guide will be next
