Father Grimburrow

Carrion Crown

So perhaps I missed it in the text... but what faith is Father Grimburrow? Besides having a decidedly evil-sounding name and looking kinda dubious in the picture of him; he seems to be a decent guy... When the riled-up townsfolk start issues early on, he shows up and apologizes for their actions, et cetera.

If he -is- a member of the Church of Pharasma, perhaps it'd be feasible for the PC's Trust Level to be considered a bit higher when they deal with the Church (especially if they ask for him by name)?

Yes, he's Pharasmin.

And yeah, I think it's totally reasonable for the PCs to develop a personal connection with him. The trust system shouldn't be a straitjacket preventing the PCs from developing personal relationships with specific NPCs.

In my game, it took the PCs some time to get his trust, but once he saw that they were stepping up to take on the evil in Harrowstone (not to mention the evil happenings in Ravengro), he's been a good ally -- advice, healing and restoration spells, etc. Over time, the PCs have actually inspired him to step up his game, and his acolytes have been patrolling the graveyard to suppress other minor undead happenings around town.

Silver Crusade

One of my PCs earned his blessing by attending evening prayers over the course of a week and participating in "pray-offs" with the father - basically making Fortitude Saves against excessive kneeling and praying to impress Grimburrow with their devotion. It worked really well, and he helped out a lot more after that and opened up his archives/stores to the PCs. It also provided a nice way for one of the PCs to explain the level of Inquisitor they took, and also was a good way to split the party up. >:)
