Pittsburgh, Pa group

Gamer Connection

We meet Sundays starting around noon, though we can start as early as 10AM.

Currently using Pathfinder + some 3.5.

Three DMs, each with ongoing games; 2 homebrew and my Carrion Crown.

We were starting a Jade Regent game, but the new player dropped out due to a death in the family.

Dotting this thread -- I may be transferring to Pittsbugh in a few months.

Keep in touch, then. If you do get the transfer, I hope you like our city.

Hey Spiral Ninja, which neighborhood are you in? I generally don't have Sundays free, but it's nice to be connected to other gamers in the city.

Also Kirth, let us know if you transfer. I'll buy you a beer if you teach me Kirth-finder. ;-)

Make it a Youngling, and it's a deal! (And after that, I'll provide the beer at the home game). I'll keep you posted -- hopefully be there by June or July, if all goes well.

We're in Munhall, just over the Homestead Greys High-level bridge.

Yup I know Munhall, I lived in Squirrel Hill for about five years. Living in Friendship now. Kinda between Bloomfield and Shadyside.

@Kirth: Ha ha, believe me, there is plenty of Yuengling to be had up here.

My husband grew up in Squirrel Hill. Me, I'm orginally from the other side of the city, I grew up in Ben Avon.

Yup! After a weekend there last year, I'd had enough Yeungling to convince me that relocation there was a moral imperative!

Hey Kirth, still thinking of heading north for the summer?

Grrrr. All kinds of HR snafus occurring. Talked to the guy last week, and they still want me up there, I still want to be up there... and for some reason they can't seem to set it up. I'll keep you posted, though, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Pittsburgh is top of my personal list for places in the U.S. I'd want to settle down in.

Ah, that must be frustrating! I know that I would be going crazy if i didn't know where I was going to live in the next couple months.

Anyway, good luck! Hope you're situation clears up soon, one way or the other.

And keep in contact though this thread.

I hope your life works out to whatever's best for you.

@ Jam & Spiral -- Thanks!!!

Just dropping by the thread to say hello to all the Pittsburgh people; our group meets monthly or twice a month. Living in Shadyside atm and most of the group is in the east end of town.

Best of luck Kirth!

Hi there. I'm not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but I happened upon it and I thought I'd post. I'm looking either for an existing Pathfinder game in Pittsburgh, or, if I can't find an existing one, to start a new one. I live in Shadyside and would like to play somewhere in the East End at least once or twice a month. I've been playing Pathfinder Society monthly, but would like to get into an Adventure Path or other campaign closer to home instead.

As for the style of game, I'm pretty open and if anybody else is looking for a game, I'm just about all the way reading through Skull & Shackles and would love to run that soon.

So, if you have a group in Pittsburgh that is looking to add a player or if you want to talk about forming a new group, let me know.

Cheers!

I'm always interested in potential new players.

Thanks for the reply, Spiral_Ninja. I'm in my mid-thirties, live in Shadyside, married with a one-year old, and a lawyer for a local software company. I've been playing Pathfinder for about a year (this year, mostly PFS games), after being out of RPGs for a while, having played 2nd edition and all the White Wolf games back in the day and all the flavors of the Star Wars RPG over the years (I still play Saga). Feel free to PM me if you would like to know more.

How about you? What's your group like?

We're older. Our daughter is 18.

Right now we have 4 people. Me, my husband, our daughter, and a long-time family friend.

I'm retired, though I do occasionally take part-time jobs. My husband works at the casino [in the count room], and our friend is a programmer who works for Pitt.

We're fairly loose about how we play, lots of table talk. We mostly use Pathfinder with some 3.5 stuff.

Sundays are best for us due to job requirements.

Hey guys! If everything goes as planned, I hope to be relocating your way sometime in October -- I'll be in Monroeville.

Monroeville's OK. I hope you like lots of Dawn of the Dead references, though. It was filmed there.

You can bore me with them all you want when I finally get to meet you!

Less me than our gaming friend, Tom, who takes part in the Zombie Walk at the Monroeville Mall every year.

That sounds disturbingly fun. Not as awesome as the apocyphal Naked Mile, but still way better than a Macy's parade.

Alright, I'm settled in here in beautiful Monroeville, PA, with convenient access to 22/376. I'd be very happy to teach, host, and referee a Kirthfinder game if the interest exists (I supply unlimited Yuengling, as a perk); otherwise, I'll be looking for a Pathfinder or 3.5 or James Bond 007 game or whatever that I can play in, once my schedule gets settled in. Any takers/offerers?

Hey Kirth, welcome to Pittsburgh!! My schedule is super hectic right now but it should slow down pretty soon. It would be great to game you though. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

On a non-gaming note, do you have any general questions about Pittsburgh? Also, when you've gotten yourself settled in, we should grab a beer or something. You will have to have to come over to my neiborhood though since I don't have a drivers license.. embarrassed face

@Jam, that beer sounds great! Give me a week or two to figure out my schedule, and I'll be happy to head over your way some time. (Dunno yet how good the public transport is here, but I noticed a bus stop about a block from here as well.)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Maps, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Cool! On the public transportation thing, we have a decent setup (for now) though a bus trip from my place to Monroeville would take forever. Probably hour and a half- two hours, with multiple buses involved.

Hi Kirth. Sorry for the delayed response, we're on vacation right now and not even in state. We'll be home Sunday. We have several games going at this time; one freeform, one modified Jade Regent, and my Carrion Crown.

Pm me if you're interested.

I was afraid of that -- when I looked it up on the trip planner web site, it told me "Total travel time: 55 minutes" (from Carnegie Library as an arbitrary starting point) and I was like "yeah, sure."

I just moved to Latrobe. I'm a relative neophyte to the Pathfinder world, although I am playing in a PbP game at the moment.
We're still getting things settled down and looking to buy a house once our old one officially sells, but once we're settled into a new house I would be interested in games nearby.
