Paladin Archetypes (Sacred Shield / Oath against Fiends)

Rules Questions

Just a compatability question. The Sacred Shield archetype requires that the Divine Bond class feat be designated to your shield. The Oath against Fiends class feat Holy Vessel states that if your DB is with a weapon you may also augment your shield. Since this ability seems optional, could I still take this archetype? Also, for the Anchoring Aura class feat, I have the option of expending one use of Smite to cast Dimensional Anchor on an evil outsider. Since my Smite was replaced with Bastion of Good from Sac. Shield, am I banned from this ability or could I expend a Bastion in the same way?

I guess I'm using that fiet that let's you rez dudes by burning LoH (since paladins can't use thread necromancy without falling.)

I'm playing a Sacred Shield in Wrath of the Rightious and Oath against Fiends makes sense.
At the end of the day, you get to enhance armor, shield and weapon via the oath against fiends, and you trade the ever awesome Smite evil for a Bastion. So should you get to use Holy Vessel as a Sacred Shied (or divine defender theoretically)?
