My player want to make a cleric who essentially is a doctor and has more of a specific sense for energy flow and life force. The first tweak I gave him was Spells Known and Per Day as a Sorcerer. He wanted more spells per day anyway and likes the fact that he get less; he's only selecting spells that have to do with life, death, healing and harm.
He's also playing a Dhampir for more of that life/death energy stuff.
Normally clerics can only do the harm or the heal per level, but I like the concept of him pushing it push ways, very cyclical.
He already doesn't get a lot of spells known per level and is supposed to have spontaneous casting, so basically I said that for every new spell level he gets, he can choose the pertinent harm or cure (only one) per level for free, essentially replacing spontaneous casting without robbing him of the free spells. Then if, in his spells known, he wanted to take the other one, he totally could (to keep with the swinging flavor)
I'm going to be running Carrion Crown, so lots of evil, ghosts and undead so I imagine his character will have lots of things to say.
Now I'm on to Channel Energy. It's quite a bit different. Under the same rule, he should be able to do either. Is that too good?
And for that matter, what about the rest of this? Do you have ideas/feedback/comments?

Why not just have him run a life oracle? They get spont spells plus the players choice of cure or inflict for free as well as cool revelations very closely tied with positive energy and it's use.

Indeed, pretty cool. Would it be too much to have them be able to swing both ways on Channel Energy though. As a cleric, they could do it a bunch. Maybe not so much for the Life Oracle (though it's CHA based and Oracles use CHA for casting as well...)

There is actually a feat for that that allows a character to channel both just one is a bit weaker then the other. Also yeah an oracle will be able to do it a crap load more since they are charisma based already.
