question on mounts

The Exchange

Does anybody know a way of permanently increasing the speed of a mount that isn't a horse? (one without hooves - no horseshoes of speed) Looking for overland speed increases. Something that lasts hours if not permanent.

Ride an elk?

Seriously, it just says "hooves" not "horse" in the description.

I would ask your GM if they could be applied to any animal, they are magic after all. Or just have someone craft a set of "paw booties of speed" and be done with it.

The Exchange

I'm looking at a mammoth actually, so no hooves. Boots of speed only last rounds.
Sorry, this should have been posted on the advice board.

If it's an animal companion mount, you can give it a point of intelligence and take Fleet. Or find some really oversized Boots of Striding and Springing. Otherwise, talk to your GM about getting something made up custom with the same effect as Horseshoes of Speed. There's no particular reason why it would have to be horseshoes specifically.
