In 3.5, there was a specific prohibition against using power attack with light weapons, but in pathfinder, that prohibition is not in the text of the feat. Is the prohibition against using power attack with light weapons simply in a different section of the rules now, or has pathfinder removed that prohibition, or is it generally accepted that RAI is that light weapons can't be used with power attacks and it simply has not made it into an errata yet?

Should but doesn't. It is the same issue with a Monk using Flurry with a two-handed weapon for 1.5 x Power Attack. Without some sort of language directly linking strength multiplier and Power Attack damage in the general case, there isn't much reason to argue otherwise.
Well, other than "That is silly. Everybody cool with a house rule? Great. Moving on..."

Yeah, we have that exact houserule with the group I'm in as well. "Hey, can taking Double Slice let me add full Strength to my offhand attack with Power Attack?" "Sure. Now where's the pizza?"
Also, if you check the Pathfinder softcovers, there's a Power Attack-esque feat called Piranha Strike that is specifically for Power Attacking with light weapons and Dexterity.
