Wanted a version of Wall of Stone that would work like Stone Shape when there's no stone available. So came up with this lesser version of the 5th level spell:

This spell functions like Wall of Stone except as noted above.

Sometimes people want utilitarian spells. The games are about role playing and having fun with your friends. Not everything needs to have a place in combat. Sometimes spells and adventures can deal with more mundane things.

You go to a village and they've just been in a raid. The invaders are dead, but many houses are destroyed or in poor condition. Do you just pass the village up, leaving the villagers in their misery or do you help them to rebuild?

As far as I can tell, that's how the spell reads. It'd basically give you useful building materials at a lower level.

I'd be fine with it as a 3rd level spell. Given the limitations it's arguably a second level spell.

As a third level spell, it is a little weak, even for a limited wall spell. Would could cast a fireball or make a 1'x5' section of wall. Make whole (a level 2 spell) would probably make a better "patch holes in walls" spell.
You'll need to make the area larger (perhaps 5x5 per two levels, half as powerfult as a "wall of stone") or drop the spell level to get it to fit with existing options. Changing it to a "wall of earth" would be a good idea as well. Keep the area 5x5 per level (as wall fo stone), but reduce the hardness and HP per inch.
