Can the Cracked Opalescent White Pyramid Ioun Stone be used to treat all guns as martial weapons?

Opalescent White Pyramid (Ioun Stone)

Aura moderate transmutation; CL 12th

Slot none; Price: 10,000 gp; Weight —.

DESCRIPTIONEach stone of this type is keyed to a particular kind of weapon (heavy flail, light crossbow, short sword, and so on) and grants you proficiency with that weapon.

Cracked: The stone grants the wearer weapon familiarity with the keyed weapon (it is treated as a martial weapon for him). Price: 1,500 gp.

Flawed: This stone grants proficiency with the keyed weapon and gives the wearer a –2 penalty to Dexterity. Price: 3,000 gp.

See Inferior Ioun Stones for details on cracked and flawed variant stones.

Considering that the weapons it list are always a single weapon I would say no. Even though you only need one feat to gain all firearm prof. You would choose a single type for this item just as if choosing a feat to apply to a weapon.

Grand Lodge

It is confusing, as the Exotic Weapon Proficiency(firearms) feat applies to all firearms, and the uncracked version is effectively that feat.

Liberty's Edge

Cracked gives a specific weapon familiarity, not a feat. If you have 2 pistols and no proficiency, then put the stone into one of them, just that one would be treated as martial. The other would suffer a penalty even though it was the same exact weapon type. It specifies the keyed weapon, not the keyed weapon type.

Grand Lodge

Ioun stones do not affix to a weapon. They float around your head. Normally Exotic Weapon Proficiency applies to only one kind of weapon, but firearms are special, thus the question.

Its just like a feat Blackblood you choose the weapon. The cracked stone doesnt say to choose a prof feat to learn it says it grants you prof with that single type of weapon whether its longsword sling or blunderbuss.

Grand Lodge

I know, but the cracked version is based off the uncracked one. Would the uncracked one grant only proficiency with one firearm, or all?

its a particular weapon, it does not give exotic weapon proficiency feat.

Still only one bbt its a specific type of weapon not a category.

This is what I am talking about.

I know what your talking about I need one feat to have the prof for all guns. However this isn't about feats its simple about having prof with a single type of weapon not a single weapon type.

Its no different than if you took it for slings you wouldn't get all simple weapons just slings even though one feat grants them all.

I see. The odd way firearm proficiency works is what has me confused.

No biggie i understand the firearm allure.
