Wildshape damage?

Rules Questions

I'm trying to figure out how much the damage dice are when a druid wildshapes into an animal?

For example, I'm level 4 and want to change into a medium cat.
Lepoard has 1d6 bite and 1d3 claws
Jaguar has 1d8 bite and 1d4 claws
The "Universal Moster Rules" say claw for medium should be 1d4 and bite is 1d6.

So does it actually depend on what animals form I take, so if I turn into a Jaguar I'll do 1d8 bite damage? Or would I just use the animal form to see what kind of attacks I get (in this case 1 bite and 2 claws) and use the Universal Monster Rules chart to see about the damage?

Liberty's Edge

use the animal stat from beastery. just make sure that the damage dice isnt improved by a feat.

Or attribute increases for the various sizes too on the damage.

The universal monster rules are good for when you wildshape into something that's not listed in the Bestiary, like a medium sized bear or large t-rex.

You're right, the Jaguar actually has Improved Natural attacks which increases teh 1d6 bite to 1d8.
Not sure why the Leopard only has 1d3 claws though, whihc would be for a small animal.
