Along the lines of the planar ally discussion that's going on: Is it me, or is this vanity over priced compared to what it can do and other vanities of similar cost? There's really not a lot that the Imp can do that you can't get accomplished with either a familiar or summon monster.

Also, if planar ally gets banned from the society,do you think they'll keep this vanity or replace it with something else?

Vanities aren't equally priced, but they're just that - vanities. Because the imp *can* be used in combat (compared to the others: squire, porter, etc), it's almost like comparing apples and oranges. Personally, I'm never going to have my Chelish toons blow 5 pp on a one use imp, but the option should exist for people to do so if they'd like. What shouldn't happen is every Cheliaxian in PFS walking around with a pet imp.

I don't think it will get banned, regardless of what happens with Planar Ally. Its something that you're not going to see very often, and it's not going to be terribly useful (they're not familiars, don't have UMD, etc).

That's just the thing. You'd hardly spend 5 pp on the vanity anyway, but it also costs 500 gold as well. It's horrendously expensive for what it provides.

I understand that vanities vary somewhat among price and reward, but this one seems incredibly overpriced for the benefit it provides. Even if the imp can be used in combat.

If you feel the vanity is overpriced, you can choose not to take it.

There are currently no plans to ban summon planar ally from Pathfinder Society Organized Play, and any rumors of such plans are unfounded and spurious.

has anyone taken it?

anyone recommend taking it?

In high level games, Imps can be really handy for holding the fire seeds.

I know of a player that has used it twice and will likely use it again in the future.

I would hate to argue for any Chelaxian. Since I am a loya Qadiran.

Why wouldn't you want to purchase that vanity? I guess it is more usefull for people that can't conjure, or have familiars.

you were talking about someone who had spent the PP from at least 5 games to get an advantage in 2 of those games. and thinking about doing it again. I just find that ... hard to discribe. I just can't see an Imp being that useful. What's he have them do?

How does he decide which game to use it in? I mean, I spend 2 PP to get a wand, which I use over several adventures (at least 10). an Imp to use in 1 game in 3... and that costs all your PP? Just... wow. Different people I guess.

Well, it seems really expensive for a sub par creature. If you wanted a a familiar for whatever reason, there's a lot of other ways around it. If you wanted help in setting up for a flank for a melee class, there's summon creature or any other number of things you could do.

I see what your saying, however I'm not sure that's always the case. I would be shocked if less than say 80% of Osirion's are either the Risen or waiting to become the Risen :)

Every Osirion in our gaming circle has come back as "the Risen."

...tbf, only 1 has died though :P

Well for the most part he uses them for spies, a small scout that can turn invisible.
