So what is the best site to get Airfare deals we are looking for one stop with less than a hour layover?

I used Orbitz, but that's mostly out of laziness. The trick with flights starts where you are coming from and the airline. I'm in Boise Idaho, so one would think it would be relatively simple to get a non-stop flight up to Seattle from just about any airline. That, however, was not the case. Southwest doesn't have a non-stop to Seattle from here, in fact they fly me to either Ontario California, Las Vegas or Albuquerque New Mexico with significant (3+ hour) layovers before going on up to Seattle. The big guys (Delta, United) are just way too expensive for such a short simple flight. So Orbitz brings up Alaska Air/Horizon, non-stop to Seattle (both ways) and for less money (including the baggage fee) than anyone else.

tl;dr I use Orbitz, tho' just about any site that can compare flights should be good, some airlines (Southwest) however may not be accessed by those systems.

Check out hipmunk.com

Another option besides Orbitz is Expedia. I only went with Orbitz for my next big flight because at the time Orbitz was $3 cheaper (probably naught more than anecdata, and I'm sure Expedia beats Orbitz sometimes).

Fedex? Maybe UPS?

I've had some luck using Cheapoair.com, as well as Expedia and Orbitz. (FWIW, I booked fy PaizoCon flights on Orbitz this year.)

I've also had some middling success with Airfarewatchdog.com. It's pop-up CRAZY, though, so be forewarned.

American and Southwest operate outside of the search engines, so you'll have to go to them directly.

Kayak.com supposedly covers all the flight search sites, but I've not used it yet. I have a lot of United miles, so I tend to fly them as often as possible. I'll especially be doing it to get my free bag in case I need a costume.

Right now most of the sites the round trip are 525-550 round trip. I guess this because it is holiday.

A month ago the prices were 40-50% cheaper. I think the spike is due to the increase in fuel prices.

I got lucky this year, Payed about $100 less then last year.

Bob. If you fly out of Bloomington/Normal and use Frontier the prices are still discounted. There is an introductory rate since Frontier is just starting service in May. A quick layover in Denver, but definitely worth no parking fees and easy to get in and out.

I got a pretty decent price for straight flights from and back to Philly. Went through Priceline.com.
