Runewell still active under Sandpoint

Rise of the Runelords

My party did their best to drain the runewell under sandpoint. knowing that it will be re-charged later, how would sinspawn be released? I don't want to send sinspawn up to the town without a clear story on how they were created in the first place. have any of you found a way that the runewell stays active without disrupting the storyline of Rise of the Runelords?

Okay, this is a tad confusing. Has the Runewell been drained of all its charges? Is it inert? Not destroyed, mind you, just inert.

If not, it doesn't really matter. The Runewell will flare back into power again if it was not destroyed once the Big M is killed. This will cause the collapse that will lead into the Runeforge storyline. Having it idling with one or two charges doesn't mean anything significant - at least, not 'til the Giants attack and there's widescale loss of life, which could recharge it a bit. But without anyone to use the pool, it just sits there bubbling.

The PCs don't need to destroy the Well with holy water. Nor should they be able to (I calculated the amount and cost of holy water to do so - it's hundreds of thousands of gold pieces worth of holy water). All they have to do is make sure no one else uses it... even if it's so simple as bricking it up.
