I am converting over a second edition 18th lvl druid/mage character (Druid 8, Wiz 3, Mystic Theurge 7). I want to convert it as accurately as possible which leads me to a problem. He had an animal companion/familiar who actually was a polar bear Figurine of Wondrous Power. There is no plan for him to be a familiar any longer. I need to use Paizo products and will have to justify any non-core. The main problems are:
1. there are no stats on polar bears that I can find
2. no specific rules on pricing, number of uses, length of stay, etc.
Do I need to make him a cohort under the leadership feat instead? If so how do I advance him to 16th level equiv?
Thanks

Easy answer:
Give him a bear animal companion. Tell him that his bear is white.
Animal companions in Pathfinder are fairly generic. Even if you found the writeup for the polar bear, it would still look the same mechanically when used as an animal companion.
As far as making it into a figurine of wondrous power, you can just ask the DM. "Ivory Elephants are cooler than bears. Can I buy the elephant and we say it's a bear?"
I think though, that unless your druid is just going for flavor, he will be pretty upset at how weaksauce the bear is. It'll have the abilities of (with a feat) a 12th level druid's companion. And it'll be awfully small for a polar bear.
Animals make for poor cohorts. If you awakened the Polar Bear, then we'd be back in business. Awakened Polar Bear cohort sounds like just what the doctor ordered.
