I'm thinking about building a new Pathfinder Society Character (so my questions are specific to making a PFS legal character). I want to play something very different from my Cleric build and I've been toying around with some ideas for a non-traditional, nearly full BAB fighting class (probably ranged).
Specifically I'm thinking about building a Half-elf (if I multiclass) or Dwarf (if I don't multiclass) Zen Archer Monk or a Zen Archer Monk/ Archer Fighter multiclass character.
The order is a bit tricky - I can't decide whether to take 1-2 levels of Fighter first and then do 3-4 levels of Zen Archer - or to do the monk levels first and then some levels of fighter. After level 3 in monk my interest is a bit diminished (though getting even a small ki pool would be pretty interesting).
What I like about this build is that at 6th level (3/3) this character has a rather crazy number of feats that should work well together - though stats are tricky as many different ones are needed:
(if Half-Elf)
Skill Focus (perception?) - Half-elf bonus
(also a +1 to perception for Hawkeye & a 5' range bonus) (2nd level Archer Fighter replacing Bravery)
Fighter 1st & 2nd level bonus combat feats (Deadly Aim?, False Opening?)
Monk 1st & 2nd level bonus feats (Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot)
Perfect Strike (1st level Zen Archer replacing Stunning Fist)
Weapon Focus (Longbow? composite longbow if specificity is needed) (2nd level Zen Archer bonus replacing evasion)
Point Blank Master (3rd level Zen Archer bonus replacing Still Mind)
Improved Unarmed Strike
Fast Movement (10')
after 3rd level the Zen Archer can use his WIS bonus in place of Dex as to hit bonus with bows
after 3rd level as an Archer Fighter he can do Sunder, Disarm or Feint maneuvers with his bow (a bit unclear if he could do this as part of a Flurry of Blows...)
1st level regular feat (?) (likely either Dodge or Toughness or Improved Initiative)
3rd level regular feat (?) (likely the other of Dodge or Toughness or Improved Initiative not taken at level 1)
5th level regular feat (?) (the remaining of Dodge, Toughness or Improved Initiative?)
That's a LOT of feats for a 6th level character (and at 7th level something like Snap Shot seems viable and interesting...)
Is this a viable approach? Can I multiclass these two archtypes?
And how should I plan on advancing (I had been thinking 3 levels of monk then 2-3 levels of fighter then choosing which class to pursue further) - likely Monk as at 6th level monk he gains Weapon Specialization (but could also gain that as a 4th level fighter natively...)
Specifically to Pathfinder Society what "gotchas" should I watch out for? Clearly this build is assuming that it won't wear armor (so lacks those advantages of being a Fighter) but it seems really interesting to be able to disarm or sunder at range and the other benefits of a few levels of fighter seem great (faster BAB progression, even more bonus feats)
Clearly this is also a bit of a optimized build - but it seems like it could add a lot to a Pathfinder Society game. My plan is to take the religion trait from Irori that allows you to gain one physical trait skill as a class skill - and take Disable Device using his Wisdom bonus so he has something to offer the party when not in combat. He should also have a really high Perception given his Half-Elf Skill Focus, WIS bonus and a few ranks. That said he is going to be very skill point limited (with a likely INT and CHA negative from low scores)
