Clarification of magic stone

Rules Questions

Quote:
You transmute asmany as threepebbles, which can be no larger than sling bullets,so that theystrike with great force when thrown or slung. If hurled, theyhave a range increment of 20 feet. If slung, treatthem as sling bullets(range increment50 feet). The spell gives them a +1 enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls. The user of the stones makes a normal ranged attack. Each stone that hits deals 1d6+1 points ofdamage (including the spell's enhancement bonus), or 2d6+2 points againstundead.

Magic stone states that it does +1 to both attack and damage, but also states that it does 1d6+1 (with enhancment). What if a lvl 1 halfling with str of 8 uses it in a sling? A sling normaly does 1d3-1 for said halfling. Does he now do 1d6+1?

Lets go the other way. What if a medium lvl 1 char with a str of 14 uses a sling staff that would normaly do 1d8+2, now using magic stone do only 1d6+1? Or am i going about this wrong? The wording is confusing me.

The spell text replaces the normal results, so the attack roll gains a +1 in both cases. The weak halfling would benefit on the damage, while the strong Medium-sized character might be better off not using the spell.. unless facing something that had DR X/magic, or against undead.
