HC-Amerindian Class development

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm thinking of developing a Amerindian class and I would love it if anyone wants to lend me a hand.

I know it's going to some archetypes such as Savage, Chief, Marksman, Squaw, and anymore I can think of.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Not sure I parse this.

Amerinds are more race/culture than 'class'. The archetypes most associated with the race/culture in question would be rangers, fighters, rogues, barbarians, druids (shaman variants), witches, oracles, possibly clerics, and depending on region and/or particular theme covered, cavalier. Or, if you want theme-naming to match, hunters, braves, ambushers, braves, medicine men, wise/medicine women, spirit talkers, and war riders. Depending on how you want your indigenous peoples portrayed, emphasis will shift based on the environs; a plains people will be markedly different those who dwell in swamps, in great contrast to those who live in some place analogous to the Pacific Northwest, or differentiated from counterparts akin to what one would find in the Southwest.

Noble Savage is somewhat discredited, but workable in your setting as you see fit; Chiefs are more or less aristocrats, but you can give them PC classes. Marksmen still have hunter role matched. Squaw is a term VERY out of favor and out of taste; not unlike calling a woman a 'broad', ir possibly less savory terms.

You may want to take a look at this for more info., and I have a few other bits of advised reading if you want.

Thanks For the input

I wasn't all there when I posted this

No worries - I may not be the most learned authority on the subject in great specifics, but I figured some input from someone with insight who was of such a lineage would be better than the potential browbeating some might deliver. :D

Admittedly, there's also the fact that I love what can only be described as 'culture porn' - it's why I adored Al-Qadim, as much as I love Nyambé and other settings-books that fictionalize ethnic and cultural conceits for RP goodness/
