Need help on building a character who wields chinese hook swords

Silver Crusade

I am thinking of making a PFS legal character with a pair of Chinese hook swords. I think they are fairly versatile weapons. Could I use them to disarm and trip?

How would I go about making a character wielding a pair of these blades? Are there statistics for them?

Would you suggest a figher? A Monk? A mixture of fighter and monk?

What feats would you suggest?

Thanks

If there are stats for them they are in the Ultimate Combat book. You can also use another weapon, and reskin it. Just make sure you write the official weapon name on your character sheet.

PS:They would not be called "chinese hook swords" if they are in the game.

You're in luck! Hook swords, under the name "Shang Gou", appear in Ultimate Combat*, and are good for tripping, disarming and using in a monk's flurry of blows. Fighter and monk are both reasonable choices; for a fighter, you'll be probably doing a standard TWF build, and you can do a normal monk build as well. (Unfortunately, the swords will often do less damage than your hands and feet as a monk.)

*I'm trusting Wikipedia that Hook Swords and Shang Gou are the same general thing; apologies to any weapon nuts if they're different.

To me the iconic thing about the hook swords is the linking of the hooks and the sweeps that follow. The Paizo folks tried to address this with the weapons trip rules but to me it falls a tad short. I would be tempted to build into combat patrol, but if you want to do this for PFS i would go strait 2 weapon or weapon master fighter. In order to get damage out of this character you need the fighters bonus damage and the extra feats.

Thank you all for your posts

Wraith strike, thanks, understandably, there is an aversion in PFS for re skinning, although I don't mind it within reason.

Joyd, thank you for pointing my nose in the right direction, Shag Gou appears to be just what i am looking for.

Uktabi, thanks for the suggestion: I'll stick mostly with fighter, and perhaps throw in a level or two of monk, to be able to give someone a "boot to the head" when i feel like it.

I had initially thought the "double chicken Saber" was the Shang Gou.

What is a "double chicken Saber?"

Thanks

I love hook swords and have had a couple different characters in different games throughout the years who used them. I think fighter (two weapon specialist) + a couple levels of monk might be good. I haven't really looked at ninja, but maybe that would be better? Not sure. Anyway, I'm pleased they've included hook swords -- it might inspire me to make a new character.
