Guard Dogs

Do guard dogs come trained for guarding? Do they know the tricks for guard, attack, down etc.?

The PFS FAQ seems to suggest they do not.

If you check the actual entry for Dog, Guard in the Adventurer's Armory, you will see that they are combat-trained, so they are trained for a purpose, combat.

I believe there are actually 6 tricks that are included in that purpose, although it does NOT include attack any target, just the basic attack training.

Ahh, the old Adventurer's Armory trick; too bad it doesn't say anything about guard dogs (other than they cost 25 gp) in the Core Rulebook.

Thanks, I will consult the Adventurer's Armory.

Otherwise one should use the stats for a normal dog (not a riding dog) for a guard dog.

For reference in this thread (one of the many threads I encountered before finding where this was answered) this question was more thoroughly addressed and answered in this linked thread Can I purchase a guard dog at first level
