Breaking through a door

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

A group is trying to break through a door with the following qualities using a +4 Lucern Hammer:

Door Hardness 10, HP 160.

Will the hammer take any damage to it from all the pounding?

Brings me to another question about sundering. Any damage to the item doing the sundering?

I would say yes the hammer is meant to pierce armour then peel it away .
not batter through a heavy door a war hammer or sledge hammer would be the best bet.
although the +4 would help, to my knowlage there no rules about damageing weapons used to sunder

You're talking about a non-magical door vs a +4 magic weapon.

I'd say the magic weapon wins and comes away without a scratch.

Also I think there are no rules for the sundering weapon getting any damage in the first place, so it's obviously not something the devs planned.

But ok, some more rules:

+4 magic adds +8 to the hammers hardness, and a lucern hammer has at least 5 hardness to start with (10 if you really just look at the metal head and ignore the wooden haft which shouldn't get damaged by the door). That's 13-18 hardness right there. Good luck for a nonmagic door to do that much damage, that it goes through that.
