Demoralize: Can it stack?

If i do an intimidate on an opponent and cause them to be shaken can another party member intimidate them into frightened? Could we stack this all the way down to Panicked?

Floating around some where is a statement saying that it was not meant to work that way. I don't know where that statement is though or how official it is.

at my table, I consider intimidate's conditions to be same-source.. and have them just extend the duration rather than advance the severity.

However if you have a demoralized target (shaken due to intimidate) get shaken by something besides an intimidate check, then yes it goes down the severity scale.
