I have a pathfinder in our group and was thinking about giving him an assignment from a venture captain. GameMastery Module J1: Entombed with the Pharaohs (OGL) and/or Pathfinder Module J4: The Pact Stone Pyramid (OGL). I might introduce it in book 3 Jackal's Price, toward the beginning when they arrive at Katapesh. Perhaps changing the location, from Osirion to a remote desert land closer to Katapesh. Didn't know if anyone else had any good ideas. The goal, when considering the AP, would be to fulfill his pathfinder lodge and in doing so, perhaps further leads on the Scroll of Kakishon.

I'm going to be inserting the entire Desert of Desolation into my game. What I have planned is at the end of Howl of the Carrion King, Almah hires the party to re-open the route from Solku to Sothis, which has been closed due to the events of the DoD series. (Any trade from Katapesh goes up the coast.) Somehow I am going to link Jarvul to the big bad of DoD. It looks like it will fit in seemlessly.
I also plan on using the same adventures you mentioned while they are in Osirion.
There is also a Dungeon magazine adventure, 'Last Stand at Outpost' Three, that I am using as a baseline for an 'Assault on Precinct 13' style battle to place in between parts 4 and 5 of Howl.

There is one threat here that deals about an epic ending to the AP after Jhavulhs defeat, that deals with teh Witchwar Legacy.
I myself added the modules "Entombed with the Pharaoh", "Carnival of Tears" and "The Harrowing" to my campaing and plan to do so, too, with the "Crucible of Chaos". The long version how I did it can be followed in my campaing blog here (titled "alternative to moldspeaker").
The short version ist this: I play the one-year-rebuild of Kelmerane with watered down Kingmaker rules and inserted some sidetracks. A few clues got the PCs the two mask-parts to open the pyramid and inside they find some unsettling revelations on the upper level of the pyramid, that strongly hint at the pharaoh of numbers involvement with the cult of Rovagug on that planet that is mentioned there and a city that they want to use as a gate -> link to crucible of chaos. One of my recurring villains was the boss of the circle tribe, The Witch, who is a visitor of leng, to fold it together with the Jackals Price. The cult of Rovagug is heavily influenced by the Visitors of Leng in my campaign, who are the masterminds behind many of the cults doings and want to raise Rovagug, or at least one of his spawns.
Carnival of Tears is the first major attack of the carrion king at Kelmerane. In the original module a carnivals directors girlfriends soul got captured by evil feys, who then turned the carnivals attractions into dark reflections. In my version this happens, too, but the evil feys are pubwampis ;D Due to their unluck aura one of the carnical directors girlfriends harrowings got aweful wrong and she got captured in her card deck, so that the PCs can do "The Harrowing" to get her soul back ... and get the information, that the carrion king is actively trying to destroy Kelmerane .. but not just with an army of gnolls but with guile and malice.
My plans for the "Witchwar Legacy" in short are: the heart of Xotani needs to be destroyed in utter cold, so they need to travel to the far north, find the grave and use the portal on its lowest floor to travel to the eights layer of hell, cania. In the frigit wastes of the coldest plane in existence the heart of the firebleeder could be sundered between two of the major glaciers. As the party will be around level 19 or 20 by then, Mephistopoles, the ruler of cania, will likely try to get the heart for his own machinations, maybe even to chalenge Asmodeus rule over hell.

Wow. I take it you are also running the side quests at the back of the book too. Sounds like a 20th level party at the end of it all. All of your expansions sound great.
Nah. I 'm going to keep loose track of XP and compare it to the medium progression. but I am going to say when to level up. I am going to try and stick to keeping them very close to the level suggested by the AP. If I do let them get ahead, I am just going to ban certain spells like overland flight, some divinations, etc until the AP .
Example: No Divination, Dimensional anchor, scrying, teleport, true seeing before the end of House of the Beast, basically anything that could allow the players do this or this is off limits until the AP is at the level of the spell. I am confidant that the AP can handle contingencies brought up by spells like these. I may have a harder time.

My players are level 9 going into the House of the Beast because I added a combination of Pharoh and pact stone for one of the character arcs and to keep the theme of Fate and Curses very real in the players mind.
They are cursed with the pact stone curse, so they share a hp pool, which is fine as far as I am concerned.
And the ghaloshon devil fits in so well with the rest of the AP and this one character's story arc that it had to be done.
I inserted the harrowing deck of many things and used it to seal the fate of the group together. Fate is key in this AP, and the players loved the draws.
Being taken prisoner by an evil entity easilly fits in the AP#4 in this series, gaining the enmity of an evil outsider is no problem either.
I actually had one character change gender, (which he loved), and another one got 3 evil dupicates of himself running around causing him all sorts of RP issues which will come to a head in AP#3 in the city of Katapesh.
It has gone well, and even if they have access to divination for house of the beast, it wont matter as the ending of that AP has things in place to stop that if you want to use it.
Its to bad one of the characters is a Suli in my group. I will let her pass theough the barrier at the end, but it will have a negative effect on her.
Will be fun. I hope you all enjoy adding to the AP. It is the best one for it I think.

I'm in the middle of writing up the tie-ins of Desert of Desolation. Almah is going to hire the PCs to escort a group of engineers on the trade route from Kelmarene to Sothis in order to gauge the quality of the road and investigate way stations and oasis'. On this journey, they will inadvertently release Zayifid from the prison Nefeshti placed him in.
i am having Zayifid replace the efreet from DoD and Nefeshti replaces Martel. Pazhvann will replace the djinni. In my game's history, Jhavul made a first attempt to gain divinity by starting a cult in his name, which failed. The dervish's religion is being changed to "cult of Jhavul". Also, Zayfid and Pazhvann will still be wish-powered
The PCs will 'hopefully' continue to Sothis, where they encounter the tribes at the Oasis of the White Palm and learn about Zayifid's mischief. After they rescue the princess they will head to Sothis and meet up with the Mithril Scarab, who will encourage the PCs to use the libraries to find information on the star stones and Zayifid. They will learn that Pazhvann needs to be released, and he happens to be interred in the pyramid fromEntombed with the Pharoahs. Following that more DoD and the Pact of the stone Pyramid.
They will then head back towards Kelmarene and finish up DoD. Zayfid will have defeated Pazvaan, and Nefeshti will remove Zayifids wish powers, but he will escape. I will then have them run through the Dungeon adventure, 'Beast of Burden', just because I want them to have to worry about a giant mountain sized beast. Zayifid will be on the beast masquerading as the priest of Sarenrae, and this will kick off House of the Beast.

I'm hoping Broken Chains, the next module, will be good. In my game Haleen is an undercover Eagle Knight. It would likely work just as well for PFS, esp Andoran or Silver Crusade factions.
I'm also working chunks of Desert of Desolation into the AP:

Oooh thanks for mentioning Broken Chains. I'm definitely picking that up too now that i know it exists. I was originally going to have the efreet be an general too, but thought having him be Zayifid. He will play the same role I think you are intending. I might have to think about your idea of an undercover Haleen.
