An Ettin's Attack

Rules Questions

Just a quick question. In the Ettin stat block is says:

Melee 2 flails +12/+7 (2d6+6)
Ranged 2 javelins +5 (1d8+6)
Space 10 ft.; Reach 10 ft.
Special Attacks superior two-weapon fighting

So does this mean that he gets two attacks at +12/+7 or that he gets two attacks with each weapon at +12/+7 for a total of 4 attacks?

I have a feeling it's 4 but just want to make sure so that I don't needlessly trounce my players.

Edit: Thinking it over, I agree that it would be 4 attacks in the melee routine (+12/+7 with each flail, for a full routine of +12/+12/+7/+7). The ranged routine is right (+5 with each javelin, for a full routine of +5/+5), since the ettin doesn't have quick draw.

Pretty sure it's 4 attacks: 2 attacks for the left head/left arm, and 2 attacks for the right head/right arm.

Cool! I think I'll throw a fiendish template on that bad boy and call him the BBEG enforcer.

I've contemplated a multi-classed ettin (barbarian/fighter or barbarian/ranger) but keeping the class abilities only applicable to one arm or the other. It seemed like a neat idea.

As it is, my PC's bypassed the one ettin I've drawn up intending to throw at them (ettin barbarian 1). I plan on having him and his sidekick orc sorcerer and their slave goblin rogue terrorize travelers and become enough of a thorn that the PC's have to go hunt them down. Should be a fun encounter. The sorcerer's buff spells on a nasty ettin barbarian make for a powerful opponent. *grin*
