Preconstructed Spellbooks - I don't know how much to make them cost!

Rules Questions

So I want to reward one of my players with a reconstructed spell book but the honest truth is I don't know how to figure out how much it's worth. I'm not using the ones in UM because I want him to get a lot out of the spells in it. Furthermore, I don't know how much the preparation ritual adds to the cost.

Is there any formula or guideline I'm missing?

Thanks for the help!

Dark Archive

All core cantrips of all but opposition schools at 5gp each
listed 1st level spells *10gp
listed 2nd level spells *40gp
etc

Also, spellbooks only have 100 pages and a spell takes up it's level in pages (9th level spell takes 9 pages, for example) with a minimum of 1 page.

As for the spell costs themselves here's what's in the magic section under magical writings:

Quote:

Materials and Costs: The cost for writing a new spell into a spellbook depends on the level of the spell, as noted on the following table. Note that a wizard does not have to pay these costs in time or gold for spells he gains for free at each new level.

Spell Level Writing Cost
0 5 gp
1 10 gp
2 40 gp
3 90 gp
4 160 gp
5 250 gp
6 360 gp
7 490 gp
8 640 gp
9 810 gp

After you figure up these costs you'd double that number to figure market price.

Thank you very much! Are there any guidelines for the preparation boons I am unaware of?

To the best of my knowledge, Madman, I don't think Pathfinder has that added cost anymore. It is just the scribing cost (as in the chart above posted by Buri), plus the cost of the blank spellbook itself (15 gp for a blank 100-page tome).

Thank you very much!
