Dual Wielding and Multiple Base Attack Bonuses

Rules Questions

My friend and I were wondering: why dual wield for more damage if you can wait several levels and gain multiple BAB, and therefore multiple attacks? I then figured "maybe dual wielding multiplies your additional attacks by two,(so 3 BAB = 6 attacks)" but I need some confirmation here.

Thanks in advance!

Employing the Two-Weapon Fighting mechanic grants you an additional attack. This is independent of how many attacks you get from your BAB.

So if you have, say, BAB of +3 you can either have one attack or employ TWF and have two attacks.

If you have BAB +6/+1, you can have 2 attacks, or you can employ TWF and have 3 attacks. If you take the Improved TWF feat, you could instead have 4 attacks.

And so forth.

Oh, that definitely clears things up. Thanks for the reply!
