Grit and Deeds question

Rules Questions

I am trying to think on how to word this:
okay if i am a level 1 gunslinger i have a list of level 1 deeds to choose from can i just choose any deed in any situation? or do i have to choose one deed like say gunslinger dodge and that is the only deed I can use until i am able to choose a new deed?

the reason i ask is this right here the trophy hunter:

Firearm Style

At 2nd level, a trophy hunter gains the Amateur Gunslinger feat, and can use any 1st-level Gunslinger deed. At every four levels thereafter, the trophy hunter can take a grit feat or select a Gunslinger deed of his level or lower, ranger’s choice.

This ability replaces combat style feat.

Gunslingers get all the deeds. The Trophy Hunter Ranger gets a limited number, but they're the Gunslinger's bread and butter abilities.

A Gunslinger can automatically perform any Deed he or she knows on that list of deeds, as long as their level is equal to or greater than the Deed's level. For the Gunslinger, there is no "selecting" which deed you know.

For the Trophy Hunter, the ranger can use any 1st level Deed. Every 4 levels afterward, they can either gain a bonus Grit Feat or select another Gunsliner Deed whose level is equal to the Ranger's level or lower. The Trophey Hunter (and the Holy Gun, for that matter) are their own classes with limited access to Gunslinger Deeds.
