Where to start

Pathfinder Society

I am a fairly new gm and am starting in on some of the society scenarios.

I was just wondering if there was an overall story arc through the seasons, or if it was only the scenarios that were posted part 1, 2, etc.

Does it matter if I play season 0 first or can we jump in anywhere?

Welcome to the Society!

answering questions in reverse order:
Jump in anywhere you'd like, but a lot of the recurring NPCs and places are introduced early, so I'd at least cherry pick season 0.

The shadow lodge story arc ran through season 2. The story line encompasses several of the numbered linked adventures, but there is no official order to it. Here is a good guide:

There are a few threads where people have created lists of scenarios in specific order to make more sense. Some people dislike the globe-trotter (not the basketball team) nature of running random scenarios and have created a Tour of Golarion.
here is a thread mentioning a few.

It's worth noting that season 0 adventures were originally written for D&D 3.5. While they've been mostly cleaned up to run with Pathfinder, I've heard that the occasional minor conversion is still necessary. Never having played 3.5 myself, so not knowing how to do those conversions, I've just been avoiding buying those scenarios to GM. Some of the other GMs in my group have run some of them, though, and it doesn't seem to be a really major issue.

I had read that season 0 was 3.5, but thats where most of my experience is so I am not too worried about that, thanks for the info though.

Thanks for the links. I will take a good look at them.

Thanks to the both of you for the info.

Keep in mind that even if the scenario is written for 3.5, you still have to run it using Pathfinder rules.

Yes, but you are to still use the 3.5 versions of the monsters if at all possible, otherwise there are several season 0 scenarios that could cause a TPK if you use the PRPG versions.

One of the best places to start, especially for a 3.5 person going to Pathfinder, might be in using/runing the Crypt of the Everflame Tier 1 scenario. The last part may be a bit tough for 1st level PCs, but it has lots of useful sidebars scattered through the scenario covering changes between 3.5 & PFRPG, thing slike Undead being able to be critted and sneak attacked, for example.

Or, just pick up the module for the sidebars/information, and start running using the Season 3 Intro trilogy: First Steps.

This *is* a good place to start... especially because you can give your players time to learn the lore behind the Pathfinder Society in-game and decide on a faction.

We used the season 0 modules at first because we wanted to be able to play newer stuff at conventions. If your group doesn't do conventions, then you don't have to worry about that- jump in wherever you like.

Once your PCs are to level 3 or so, I heartily recommend Feast of Ravenmoor as a nice, two-session change of pace from the regular PFS scenarios.
