Multiclassing spellcrafters and the craft feats

Rules Questions

I have a player who wants to be a 3/3 Druid/Wizard with the Prestige Class Mystic Theurge.

However he also wants to craft items, so my question is what would his caster level be in regards to the feat selection.

Since both classes are full caster levels, does that mean his caster level stack for the purposes of the feat, or would he have to wait until lvl 8 before getting craft arms and armor (CL 5/5)?

I would use his highest caster level. So in this case, he would have to wait until level 8 since he isn't a 5th level caster yet.

Wait, Master Craftsman lets you use your ranks (Character level?) as your caster level, so does this mean you can use Master Craftsman to qualify for the feats, and then use that you can get craft staff at lvl 11 instead of lvl 14, and use craft staff normally (not through the master craftsman feat?)

Master Craftsman

Your superior crafting skills allow you to create simple magic items.

Prerequisites: 5 ranks in any Craft or Profession skill.

Benefit: Choose one Craft or Profession skill in which you possess at least 5 ranks. You receive a +2 bonus on your chosen Craft or Profession skill. Ranks in your chosen skill count as your caster level for the purposes of qualifying for the Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item feats. You can create magic items using these feats, substituting your ranks in the chosen skill for your total caster level. You must use the chosen skill for the check to create the item. The DC to create the item still increases for any necessary spell requirements (see the magic item creation rules in Magic Items). You cannot use this feat to create any spell-trigger or spell-activation item.

Normal: Only spellcasters can qualify for the Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item feats.

You would be able to qualify and use Craft Magic Arms and Armor right away. Just remember that you will be spending a feat slot for earlier access but once you are able to qualify by virtue of being a 5th level caster, you will have a wasted feat.

Master craftsman still provides a +2 on your check to create an item but you are limited to what you can make based on the craft skill you take and you are still required to purchase the crafting feats. You would be better off with another feat and just waiting to qualify with caster level, and saving your skills for spell craft since the craft feats are designed to synergy with casters. It would be level 9 for craft arms and armor if that's what you're after. Craft wondrous items is caster level 3 so you'd qualify before you start the PrC.

Don't forget that the Item Creation feat qualifications are based on caster level. If you are using traits, the Magical Knack trait adds two to the caster level of one of your classes, not to exceed HD. If you took Magical Knack (Druid), then you can take Craft Magic Arms and Armor as a Druid 3/Wizard 2 with your 5th level feat choice, since your druid CL is 5.
