Raging Swan is looking for a few good freelancer designers to contribute to the “So What” line. The “So What” line of products are a GM's Resource designed to enable the busy, time-pressured GM to answer a specific question such as “So What’s For Sale, Anyway?” or “So What’s It Called, Anyway?

The products enable a GM to effortlessly add depth and flavour to the campaign or adventure by providing randomised lists from which a GM can quickly draw. Hit the links above for free samples and examples if you are nor familiar with the line.

Successful applicants need not have designed products before, but should have a cracking imagination, work well to deadlines, be communicative and have a good working knowledge of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game system. Finally, they should be ready start designing almost immediately!

Interested freelancers should contact Creighton at creighton [at] ragingswan [dot] com with a sample of their work of between 500 and 1,000 words.

I encourage any aspiring freelancer to take a look into this. Creighton was kind enough to give me a start and working with Raging Swan has been awesome.

Thanks, John! That's jolly decent of you!

I've gotta say, your products look interesting, and your website looks great! I might be making a purchase or two in the near future.

Is there still room for aspiring first-time freelancers? And does the sample have to be related to the "So What" line?

Creighton,

I'll definitely consider this. I've done freelance work for Headless Hydra Games, and Dreamscarred Press... and I'll take a look at the "So What" links and see what ideas it generates.

Thanks,

Dean

+1

Has it to be a names' (or other things') list?

Shhhh ... it's a very well kept secret, but ... Creighton is British.

Remember - you didn't hear that from me ... :)

What kind of sample do you want -- just a general writing sample, a sample of the sort of thing that fits the "So What" line specifically, or . . . what? I'm a published writer, a hobbyist RPG designer, and a big fan of Pathfinder RPG in particular and Paizo in general, so obviously I'm interested.

I'll send an email this evening, whether I get a response to this or not, but figured it might be useful to others to have an answer to the question of what kind of sample materials you'd like.

Do you prefer the sample in the body of the email, or as an attachment (and if attached, what format)?

But a good guy nevertheless. A very helpful chap indeed.

Cheers

Absolutely room for first-timers. The sample can be anything that you are proud of. It's just to get a feel for your style and suchlike.

And thus, I shall terrorise you with the proper spelling of words...

So many extra vowels....Forget me trying to spell "maneuver" without the spellcheck.

I'm used to the 'odd' spellings. I'm Canadian. And I'm proud of it!

I'm another Canadian, and so used to all the extra vowels.

I would also be interested in freelance work, if a position is available.

Yeah! Greetings fellow canadian.

I sent something... just a little thing, hope you like it.

Thanks all! I've received loads of submissions and I'm now working through them. At the moment, I suspect I've got enough submissions to see me through for a bit. I'll post again here when I open up another open call.

If you need more, I'll be happy to submit something -- but bear in mind that, as a point of pride, I never take money for RPG work. My freelancing is always free, in other words.

Well that makes you hard to compete against doesn't it? ;)
