About using some spells from D&D 3.5

Hi.
I play pathfinder well in Japan.
It is very fun, I think.

By the way, I have a question.

(1) Is it OK to use some spells from D&D 3.5 source?

I found this spell in the D&D book.
"dance of ruin"

I think that this spell (clr2.etc) is TOO strong.
However. I understand that pf and D&D3.5 are compatible.
Based on this, I think that it is OK to use make "dance of ruin wands" etc.

I understand that this "dance of ruin" spell is too strong for clr2 player to use it (It should not be used or game-balance will be ruined).

On the other hands, when making some "evil" cleric, I can't find any "evil" or "strong" spell in the pathfinder books (including Ultimate Magic or etc).

Do you know (or exist) some guindlines to use D&D3.5 spells when playing pathfinder game?

My English is very poor, sorry for this.
Bye!

Using 3.5 supplements will render the changes made in PF moot. If you are okay with this, have at it.

Hi Yuki,

I agree with you that Dance of Ruin is a powerful spell and I would be careful adding new powerful spells to my game, whether they're Pathfinder RPG spells or 3.5 D&D spells. In general, I don't think there's much difference in power level between 3.5 D&D spells and Pathfinder RPG spells: some are very weak, some are very powerful and most are somewhere in between.

Are you the GM or a player in your game? If you're the GM, you shouldn't feel bad if you don't your players to use the spell.

First thing: it is not from D&D 3.5 but 3.0 so it is a bit harder to implement in PF.

Dance of ruin spell is intended to duplicate effects of Vrock's supernatural ability of the same name.

In D&D 3.0 it required a group of five Vrocks to dance for three rounds and inflicted 2d20 points of damage within range. In 3.5 it was changed to inflict 20d6 points of damage and required only three Vrocks dancing for three rounds. In Pathfinder requires one or more Vrocks to dance for three rounds and inflicts 5d6 points of electric damage per dancer to a maximum of 20d6 when four Vrocks dance (because all demons are immune to electricity the clause about damaging nondemons only was removed). In all cases stoping at least one participant from dancing disrupted the ritual.

Balancing this spell for Pathfinder would probably make it into 3rd or 4th level spell. If it is to be used by evil NPC I recommend keeping the three round casting time - the NPC would require a group of guards or minions for protection during the casting.
