I'm looking to do some audio recording, and at the moment the only program I can use to do so is the standard Sound Recorder program that came with my copy of Windows. It would be fine (so long as I don't want to do any sort of editing or, you know, anything beyond just recording it) except that it can seemingly only record 2 minutes at a time. Does anyone out there happen to know of any good sound recording programs (preferably free) that I can use? Any sort of editing function would be a plus, but not necessary.

I'm with Eric Clingenpeel, Audacity is a very good free option. I use it on both my Mac and Windows side when I need basic/quick audio capture.
What is your intended end use? Are you just recording pre-gen dialog? Podcasting? Making sound-effect/music?

I just downloaded Audacity, and so far it seems to work great. I want it for a few things- the most immediate use being recording my D&D sessions. I'm hoping to some day start recording some podcasts (if I can ever find a good subject...) but for now I was hoping to just record my gaming sessions because of all of the many times hilarious and/or awesome stuff has happened and I had no proof of it.
Thanks, guys!
