Nine tailed fox eidolon - design help

Advice

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays guys!

I need help designing the eidolon for my kitsune summoner for the Jade Regent AP. I would like to create the fabled nine tailed fox. Unfortunatly I do not which abilities and powers should it have, since I don't have a too many ranks in Knowledge Asian history... Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd start out with the assumption he needs to build up to 9 tails. So start him at 1 tail for the first two levels, then two tails, etc, until he has 9 tails at level 16.

As far as powers, Kitsune had the ability to assume human form. Not sure how you'd do that short of giving it the ability to cast Alter Self, at higher levels, so it can assume human form for a short time.

They're also supposed to be able to breath fire or lightning, depending on the kitsune. So you could go with bite/claw/claw and buy fire or lightning attacks. A breath weapon at higher levels too.

They're supposed to be smart and wise, so you might want to buy them some boosts to INT/WIS and make it a skill monkey type companion, rather than a combat monster. This is a sub-optimal build if you want a combat caster, but could cover a rogue type, especially combined with some limited casting ability.

Flight is also something they're supposed to be capable of, although you'd need the wingless version.

I think what he was saying is that he is the kitsune and the eidolon is the nine-tails. I also believe the kitsune are in Bestiary 3 so the OP is more focused on what the fox can do.

My experience with the nine-tails is limited to Pokemon and Naruto. I know they are fast, fiery, tough as nails, and short on temper. Apart from that I wholeheartedly suggest the mount and fly(multiple times for dank speed) evolutions. I agree that you should either mechanically or flavorfully start giving it more tails as you level. It will be a cute little pup when you start and grow to the legendary status it is known for.

Uhm, a 9-tails fox spirit is a kitsune. That's the original myth. Each Kitsune (fox spirit) has between 1 and 9 tails, the more tails, the more powerful it is.

The Naruto fox spirit is like a severe bastardization of the mythos. If that's what he's after, he's better off making it up as he goes along, since it won't have anything to do with the actual mythological 9-tail fox spirits.

[Stolen from Wiki]The nine-tailed fox, or Jiǔwěihú (九尾狐) is a mythological creature species that was depicted in the Nanshan jing, Haiwaidong jing and Dahuangdong jing of Shan Hai Jing as having the voice of a human infant. It can be eaten by humans, and those who eat it can be protected from evil.[1]

Later in history books like Book of Zhou and story collections like Extensive Records of the Taiping Era, the nine-tailed fox was depicted as a beast of fortune. Sent by the heavens, the nine-tailed fox was seen as a sign of fortune, peace and luck. In the Han dynasty, it is the protector of royal blood. However, it can also represent an omen of revolution when the emperor is not good.

It was said to have possessed Mei Xi(妹喜), bewitched Jie of Xia, and caused the downfall of the Xia dynasty.

So what your saying is that I could get a permanent Protection from Evil if I choose to eat Naruto? Hey, gotta get bonuses when I can.

Sorry for the confusion, yes I will be the kitsune, and was going to roleplay that the eidolon would be the protector of my family and took the form of the nine tails fox too.
