Advice

I need help building a wild man type character imagine Tarzan but with bears or wolves or something instead of apes. 20 pt buy on stats.

- I was thinking of maybe taking human, half-elf, or half-orc
-strength:18
-dexterity:15
-constitution:14 +2 bonus
-intelligence:7
-wisdom:12
-charisma:7
- What class should I take?
- I'd like the character to fight unarmored or in hide or leather, and to use his bare hands to wrestle with opponents unless there is a way for me to pick up a set of claws.
- very open to suggestions.

For Tarzan: Human Ranger 1

STR 16
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 8
WIS 14
CHA 12

HP 12
AC 17 / Hide +4, Dex +2, Dodge +1

Feats

Improved Unarmed Strike
Improved Grapple

Build him up as an archer. Be movement based. Get shot on the run and spring attack at some point.

We had one player do this with a monk. He dropped Cha and Int to boost wis.

Now I had one ranger I've been thinking about who was Half-orc. Took the sent feat and the bite trait. At second level of ranger he took aspect of the beast-claws and at third "Godless healing"

Essentially, I was building him to emulate a werewolf. Also took guide..

Liberty's Edge

I've got a quick suggestion with respect to stats:

Always put your human bonus into the stat you've spent the most points on - so BUY a 16, and boost it to 18. Don't buy an 18 in strength and then boost your con from a 12 to a 14 or 14 to 16 (can't tell which). It's more efficient, because buying high numbers is very expensive, but racials bypass that expense.

Str 17+2=19 (cost 13)
Dex 14 (cost 5)
Con 14 (cost 5)
Int 7 (cost -4)
Wis 14 (cost 5)
Cha 7 (cost -4)

The above is how I'd probably build stats if I was basing it off of the numbers you've given me. Were I to try and build a tarzan-ish character, I might consider...

Human/half-elf/half-orc Barbarian
Str 14+2 (Cost 5)
Dex 16 (Cost 10)
Con 16 (Cost 10)
Int 7 (Cost -4)
Wis 13 (Cost 3)
Cha 7 (Cost -4)

Power Attack and Toughness (maybe) at level 1. If you want unarmed, take Brawler rage power for improved unarmed strike during a rage at 2.

Rage for 20 strength and 20 con. THESE stats are not optimized towards one specific purpose, but you'll have a very solid, well-rounded character that I feel represents tarzan pretty well. Strong, agile, and tough, but stupid and socially stunted for having lived with animals for so long. And honestly, when you're raging at higher levels with a +str belt, you will not miss the +1 to hit and damage that those 2 strength represents now, as it will represent only a very (fractionally) small aspect of your hit and damage numbers.

Maybe take the animal totems with eventual pounce. Seems pretty tarzanish.

If you want to powergame him down the road, take a 4-level dip in fighter (weaponmaster) for weapon training+gloves of dueling and weapon specialization.
