Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Okay, I have to admit that I've grown to love the Pathfinder version of the Changeling race. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, go buy Haunting of Harrowstone or look up Changelings from the Pathfinder SRD. I guess my liking for them was helped by the fact that I'm from around an area where they did use to have myths like that.

Anyway, I know that people know Changelings better from Eberron, but those things are a completely different issue. I like them too, but I now prefer the PF ones over them if only because of the mythical background of the real-world changelings.

Now, I want all of you to post here to show your support for the Changelings of Golarion, so they might get a better treatment in the Advanced Race Guide and also because I wanna see how many like them. Oh, and I've made two Changeling character ideas for future campaigns and wanted to show them off too.

Read if you are interested:
First is Melina Lupei, a Neutral (or Neutral Evil) Changeling Druid (mother was an Annis Hag, father was an Ulfen priest of Erastil, druid archetype is Mooncaller, Packlord or Blight Druid) from Ustalav who was first raised by a Varisian family (her adoptive parents actually cared for her), but got thrown out from her home after almost being burned at the stakes by a superstitious mob formed by her Hag mother. She grew up in the dark woods of Ustalav due to that, chased by undead at times and other horrors. She loves animals and plants of all kinds but hates humanoids due to her past treatment and their lack of respect for nature, though she might give up the hate later on if she sees her adoptive parents again and if the group helps her. Worships Pharasma at first (starts to worship Desna if she becomes Good).

Traits: Superstitious Ward, Suspicious

Second is Fiona Vasile, a Chaotic Good Changeling Sorceress / Harrower (mother was a Green Hag and father a Shoanti shaman of the Shiikirri-Quah clan, sorcerer archetype might be Tattooed or Crossblooded, while the bloodlines options I have in mind are Accursed, Arcane or Starsoul) from Varisia who was raised by Varisians as well, but she was never judged for her differences by her adoptive parents. Her step-siblings weren't as nice though, and when her Hag mother came to get her, they actually sold out on her since they envied her for her good looks and her magical talents. She was saved by a hero (Paladin maybe?) before she could be turned into a Hag, but couldn't bear to go back home after her "siblings" told her parents that she had been killed by the Hag Coven. Worships Desna and works as a wandering fortune-teller.

Traits: Reactionary, Varisian Wanderer

Well my biggest experience is my cousin making three changelings in row that I killed off fairly quickly, but they seem like an interesting race, especially because they are real changelings not those stupid Eberron ones.

Are you a killer DM or were they just very unlucky characters?

A little of both, the campaign that happened in was one of our side campaigns where my cousins found out about fourthcore and wanted to give it a try, so while I didn't go about with the express idea of slaughtering my players, there was a pretty high casualty rate

I enjoy the race. It was hilarious that it came out when it did. In my campaign at the time the party's monky had relations with a Hag who was the patron of a local witch coven. Odds were he fathered a child from this meeting.*

*He was drunk at the time (most the time) and the Hag extracted it as part of the price for her help against the cult of Lamasthu in my game.

I sure hope you added a "y" and didn't just forget an "e".

I have an idea for a sea hag changeling for Skull and Shackles, but can't decide on witch or barbarian for the class.

Clearly you should take levels in both.

I have been playing Gyfa, an ulfen raised changeling in our Carrion crown game for eight levels now.....and I'm LUVIN her ;)

Surprisingly, I do like them. I am not a fan of hags... so.. it's odd.

Meh... I prefer the kitsune and tengu over the hagspawns.

I prefer the eberron changling and I hate eberron so that says something....

each their own though.

I've got to admit that finding this out and the way these Changelings are happen to be a very different creature from the Eberron ones.

That said, I do like where they are coming from with this monster. I look forward to using them in my games.

LOVE them, and while I enjoy Eberron, I'm not a fan of the shape shifting Changelings.

I like them, too. And my girlfriend asked me to build her one, a savage changeling with a orc or ho father. She left it up to me if I build her as a natural weapon ranger or as a savage fighter.

I didn't come around to doing it yet, but I'll do it some time in the future.

What I got:
Changeling, slightly orcy looking
Toothy or tusked (always mix them up) trait via adopted
Hasn't realized yet, that the mother she knows isn't her real mother.
Left her family to look for her lost father and because something seems to be calling her.
