Exotic two handed weapons and how to apply bonuses

I have been trying to figure out how bonuses on weapons such as the double walking stick katana or the double-chained kama are applied. If a single +1 bonus of whatever is given to the item, do both ends of the kama, and both swords in the walking stick receive this bonus? Or do bonuses have to be applied as though it were two separate items?

For clarity, a double katana walking stick resembles a quarterstaff when both blades are sheathed; with the hilt of each sword being on opposite ends.

If you are asking about magically enhancing the item then each side is separate. Even when creating a masterwork version of an item each side cost 300 gp for the masterwork component.
